
Curriculum of BM-MD Program was designed to be aligned with PLOs and CLOs, and composes of Bachelor of Medicine phase (7 semesters) and Professional phase (4 semesters). In bachelor phase, the curriculum focuses in providing of clinical competence foundations for students, while professional phase provides students with direct interaction with patients and clinical cases. The curriculum is integrated horizontally and vertically and also adopt spiral design which allows multiple repetition throughout the bachelor and clinical phases.
The bachelor phase consists of 44 course modules with 154 credit points (354.59 ECTS). In the first and second semester, the student will acquire basic topics related to medical science. In the 3rd semester, the student starts building and presenting a research proposal, which will be conducted in the next four semesters, and the final thesis will be presented at the end of the academic phase (the 7th semester). In this last semester, students are also required to take a community based interprofessional practice, in which they have to implement the knowledge they have studied so far into the communities and practice interprofessional collaboration with students from another health program (Nursing, Dentistry, etc.), health practitioners, and stakeholders, either in or out of South Sulawesi province.
The professional phase is pursued in 4 semesters for two years consisting of 18 course modules with 49 credit points (104.53 ECTS). In this phase students will apply the knowledge, skills, and professional attitudes that have been learned during the academic phase directly to patients and patients’ families under the supervisors’ guidance.
